I am also associate researcher to the Center of Energy (CE, University of Chile)<\/p>\n<p>At CMM, I belong to the group NETWORKS-Sustainable Networks for Energy and Resource Allocation-, where I have conducted numerous research and development projects in the field of modeling and applications of Mathematics to the industry. I authored\u00a0 numerous scientific publications in the field of Applied Mathematics and Operations Research, chapters in books, numerous consulting technical reports and more than 50 invited conferences in international congresses and seminars.<\/p>\n<p>From 2014, I am associate editor of Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springer.com\/journal\/11750\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TOP<\/a> (official Journal of the Spanish Society for Statistics and Operations Research). Along several years, I have conducted various projects on applications of mathematical modeling and software development to industrial and real-world problems, in various fields as resources allocation, mining, energy, planning production and education, among others. Particularly, three of those projects have been developed in the context of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (VI and VII) and many others have been funded by Chilean agencies, as FONDECYT, FONDEF, CORFO, among others.<\/p>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #000080\">Other activities<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>From 1998 until 2010, I was member of the <em>Comisi\u00f3n Nacional de Estad\u00edsticas<\/em> (technical committee of the Instituto Nacional de Estad\u00edsticas-INE, Chile).<\/li>\n<li>Member of various scientific societies (<a href=\"https:\/\/somachi.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sociedad Matem\u00e1tica de Chile<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ichio.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Instituto Chileno de Investigaci\u00f3n Operativa-ICHIO<\/a>, Association de Math\u00e9maticiens Appliqu\u00e9s Fran\u00e7ais et Chiliens, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.siam.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics-SIAM<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seio.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spanish Society of Statistics and Operations Research<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Reviewer: regular reviewer of scientific articles for international journals in operations research and applied mathematics, technical reviewer for\u00a0 ANID, CORFO and other funding agencies.<\/li>\n<li>Associate Editor: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.springer.com\/journal\/11750\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TOP<\/a> &#8211; the official journal of the Spanish Society of Statistics and Operations Research, \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.springer.com\/journal\/11750\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.springer.com\/journal\/11750<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Professor of Mathematical Optimization and Linear Algebra at the Department of Mathematical Engineering (DIM) and researcher at the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM), University of Chile.
